Assam on Saturday reported as many as 3,453 COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state's COVID-19 tally to 1,56,576, according to the bulletin issued by the state National Health Mission (NHM).
The new COVID-19 cases included 1,417 from Kamrup Metro, 264 from Dibrugarh, 136 from Tinsukia 136 and 134 from Kamrup Rural. With the new COVID-19 positive cases, the number of COVID-19 active cases in Assam has risen to 25,027, the NHM bulletin stated.
The new COVID-19 cases were detected out of 54,002 tests conducted during the day with the positivity rate being 6.39 per cent. Assam has so far conducted 86,58,937 COVID-19 tests, the bulletin stated.
The state also recorded 23 more deaths, including nine from Kamrup Metro, three from Barpeta; two each from Tinsukia and Cachar and one each from Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Lakhim, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Sonitpur on Saturday. With it, the COVID-19 death toll in Assam surged to 1,330, it stated, adding that the number of COVID-19 patients who have died due to other reasons reached 1,347 .
Meanwhile, 2,229 more patients were discharged on Saturday, taking the total COVID-19 recovered cases to 2,28,872. The state's COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 89.20 per cent, the NHM bulletin added.
The bulletin further stated that the cumulative number of beneficiaries who have been administered COVID-19 vaccines in the state till date is 25,66,157.
