Manipur's COVID-19 active cases surge to 1,652

COVID-19 claimed five more lives in Manipur. Imphal East and Imphal West continued to report the maximum number of new COVID-19 cases at 91 and 120 respectively.

The number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur mounted to 1,652 on Saturday as 319 more persons, including seven Central Armed Police Force personnel, tested COVID-19 positive in 24 hours. The COVID-19 death toll also surged to 410 with five more fatalities, the state health department said.

With the new COVID-19 positive cases, the state's COVID-19 caseload surged to 31,905, a release issued by the Common COVID-19 Control Room stated.

Imphal East and Imphal West continued to report the maximum number of new COVID-19 cases at 91 and 120 respectively. The remaining new COVID-19 cases from the general population included 24 from Bishnupur, 23 from Kakching, 15 from Senapati, 11 from Thoubal, nine each from Ukhrul and Churachandpur, six from Kangpokpi, two from Chandel, and one each from Tamenglong and Chandel, the release stated.

The COVID-19 deaths recorded on Saturday included two from Imphal East and one each from Churachandpur, Imphal West and Kakching, it stated.

The state also recorded 79 new recovered cases, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases to 29,843. But the state's COVID-19 recovery rate fell to 93.53 per cent from 94.23 per cent on Friday, the release stated.

Meanwhile, air passengers who travelled to the state on April 25 by Indigo flights 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been asked to inform the Common Covid Control Room at 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.

As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state reached 1,94,659.

All persons above 45 years are advised to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, District hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals, the release added.
