India reports over four lakh new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

India's total active caseload has reached 32,68,710 on Saturday.

India on Saturday reported over 4,01,993 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, the first country  to report over four lakh new COVID-19 cases in a day. With the new COVID-19 cases, India's COVID-19 tally increased to 1,91,64,969,  according to the Union Health Ministry.

India also recorded 3,523 more fatalities, including 828 in Maharashtra, 375 in Delhi and 332 in Uttar Pradesh, bringing the death toll to 2,11,853.

According to the ministry, Maharashtra continued to report the highest daily new COVID-19 cases at 62,919,  followed by Karnataka with 48,296 while Kerala reported 37,199 new cases.

The country's total active caseload has reached 32,68,710, comprising 17.06 per cent of India's total COVID-19 positive cases, the ministry added.
