The Sports Association of Ukhrul District (SAUD) held its general body meeting on Friday and resolved to form an umbrella association of sports for Ukhrul district under the name of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA).
Attended by representatives from 18 sports associations functioning in Ukhrul district, the general body meeting (GBM) was called for the various sports associations registered under the provision of MSR Act, 1989 and those sports disciplines who have applied for registration under MSR Act, 1989.
The meeting also adopted the following proceedings wherein the members present from 18 sports associations operating in Ukhrul district unanimously proposed Chonmi Raleng, VP of UDSA to chair the meeting and Tennoson Pheiray as the sitting secretary.
The members present, after thorough deliberation, agreed to form an umbrella association of sports for Ukhrul district under the name of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA).
The meeting then resolved to appoint the 6 (Six) members as Interim members of UDOA with Standhope Kashak as interim president, Tennoson Pheiray as interim secretary; and Tharmingam Khangrah, Wungshungmi Hungyo, CS. Xavier and Phungchan Raikhan as interim members.
Moreover, the "Interim Body" has been empowered to make preparation for election of Executive Councils of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) for the tenure 2022-2026 in accordance with the rules and guidelines as enshrined in the Memorandum of Association of Manipur Olympic Association.
Once the interim body finalises the schedule and modalities, another GBM will be convened at the earliest for necessary approval and appointment of Election Officers for conducting the said election as per MOA guidelines and in consultation with Manipur Olympic Association.
This was disclosed by Chonmi Raleng during the press conference held Friday evening at the office of Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) located at Wino Bazaar in the heart of Ukhrul town.
The general meeting also discussed and resolved to register the society at Deputy Registrar of Societies, Ukhrul District, Manipur under provision of MSR Act, 1989 and also submit these proceedings to the Deputy Registrar of Societies, Ukhrul District, Manipur for favour of kind approval and necessary action.
