One arrested for obtaining Aadhaar for illegal immigrant

A police arrested a person involved in obtaining Aadhaar card for an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh at Lilong on Sunday.

Lilong police arrested a person involved in obtaining Aadhaar card for an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh on Sunday. The arrested person has been identified as Hafiz Salatur, 26, son of Md Serajuddin of Konuma Hiyangkhong, Mayang Imphal. At present staying at Lilong Bazar.

Police sources said Salatur was the person involved in processing/obtaining Aadhaar card of one illegal immigrant from Bangladesh namely Muhammad Ramjan Ali, 35, son of Md. Jalaluddin of Piyali Mari, P.O-Monakasha, P.S-Shibganj, District Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh at present staying at a scrap shop at Lilong Uku.

It is learned that Salatur obtained the Aadhaar card for the illegal Bangladeshi immigrant despite knowing that Muhammad Ranjan Ali is an illegal immigrant.

The Aadhaar card was issued at the processing center located at Lilong bazar. A case is registered under FIR No. 70(10)2022 LIL-PS u/s 409/417 IPC for further investigation.
