Manipur Violence: Private ambulance services seek public help

Medilance managing director M Dayananda appealed to the public, particularly the local of the valley people, to support on ambulance services.

Amid the crisis situation in violence-hit Manipur, private ambulance serivices, including Medilane, Star and JCRE ambulance, have appealed to the public to coordinate on ambulance services on humanitarian ground.

Speaking to the media on Sunday at Medilance office, managing director M Dayananda appealed to the public, particularly the local of the valley people, to support on ambulance services.

He said some ambulance were destroyed and the drivers even beaten up while transporting patients. The attacks took place, particularly during night hour, he added. 

He clarified that there were rumours of transporting arms and ammunition using ambulances. But the ambulance services are for healthcare and dedicated to humanitarian services. He further urged people to support ambulance services.

So far, a total of the 56 people have died and over 100 others injured in the communal violence that broke out at several places in Manipur on May 3-4.
