The Manipur Loumi Lup has submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu, through the Manipur Governor over non-implementation of the promises made by the Union Government to the farmers.
The memorandum mentioned that the Samyukta Kishan Morcha had already submitted a letter to the Union Government on November 21, 2021 and drew the attention of the government towards its six pending demands.
Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sanjay Aggarwal responded to their letter on December 9, 2021, assuring on behalf of the government to fulfill their demands and urged to withdraw the farmers movement.
It also said that they withdrew their protest on December 11, 2021 but the Union government failed to fulfill their demands till date.
The memorandum reiterated their request to the Union to take immediate concrete steps to resolve the pending issues and pay heed to the problems of the farmers by fulfilling their demands.
It also strongly condemned the government for not paying heed to the demands of the country’s farmers. The farmers demanded for complete debt relief, crop insurance and farmers pension fulfilled at the earliest.
They also warned the government of intensifying their struggle if their demands were not fulfilled at the earliest.
