S Khomunnom YC lifts TAYA annual sports meet champion trophy

TAYA Champion: In a penalty shootout, S Khomunnom Youth Club won the match in an aggregate 6-5 and lifted the champion trophy.

The 45th Tujang Area Youth Association (TAYA) annual sports meet ended on Monday with S Khomunnom Youth emerging the champion after defeating the defending champion Cananphai Youth Club in the final match.

The closing ceremony was graced by former ADC Sadar Hills member, Lamminthang Kipgen as Chief Guest on behalf of Minister Nemcha Kipgen, who could not attend the event owing to an official meeting.

While Milan Pradhan, former ADC Sadar Hills member attended the event as a Guest of Honour, Keithelmanbi Village Authority Chairman, Lhunkhomang Mangjel attended as Functional President, and OC Gamnom Saparmeina Police Station, Inspector Lutminthang Kipgen attended as a special guest.

In under-13 football, K Sajal Kids Club won the trophy while Gamnomphai Kids Club was the runner-up.

In men's volleyball, K. Munnomjang Youth Club bagged the champion and K. Sajal Youth Club bagged the runner-up while in women's volleyball, Saikotjang Youth Club bagged the champion and Gamnomphai Youth Club bagged the runner-up.

The senior (main) football final match was kicked off after the inspection of players by the chief guest and other dignitaries and the opening of the final match by the chief guest by kicking in the ball inside the ground.

S Khomunnom Youth Club found the opener through Thangsohang in the 17th minute but it was equalized by Cananphai Youth Club through Lalgoumin in the 50th minute of the second half and the normal time ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the penalty shootout, S Khomunnom Youth Club won the match in an aggregate 6-5 and lifted the champion trophy.

Individual prize winners in senior football are Thangsongin of S. Khomunnom YC (Best Defender), Thanggoumang of S. Khomunnom YC (Best Keeper), Manglun Kipgen of Saikotjang YC (Best Midfielder), Lamgunlal Kipgen of P. Khothah Part-II (Best Striker), Laljalen Singson of Cananphai YC (Top Scorer, and man of the tournament), Nehgin Touthang of Gamnnomphai YC (Hattrick), Seilenchung Khongsai of Ngahmun YC (Emerging player).

In under-13 football, Hangminthang of K. Sajal Kids Club was awarded the best player award while in women's volleyball, Lhinghoiching of Saikotjang YC and Hatneineng Kipgen of Molsang YC was awarded best spiker and best setter.

Jangmol Youth Club was awarded the most fans of the tournament while Demmang Kipgen of Saikotjang village was awarded fans of the tournament.
