The Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) and the Senior Citizen Forum Kakching (SCFK) on Wednesday locked the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) office, condemning the alleged irregularities in the KMC.
Initially, the two groups carried out a protest rally starting from Kakching Super Market at around 9.50 am. Later, the agitators stormed the KMC office and locked the office.
Taking part in the protest, KBBWA president Nongmaithem Sanatomba condemned the municipal council for increasing the solid waste management collection money to Rs 100 from Rs 50. He also lamented over the distribution of dustbins without cover.

Sanatomba further condemned the councillor, executive officer, caretaker, and chairperson of the council for trying to swindle the money sanctioned under the 15th finance for the people of Kakching.
He also mentioned the ongoing case of taking bribes of Rs 10,000 each from the loanees of housing for all schemes and taking an advance amount of 6 months each for parking fees and toll tax from the people.
The protestors also demanded the suspension of the corrupt EO from his post and also warned of intense agitations if their demands are not fulfilled.
