The Civil Judge Senior Division, Imphal West, on Wednesday vacated an ad-interim injunction order passed by the same court which stayed the operational of MPP election order (Order No 4/MPP/GA/2022) and allowed extionsion of MPP interim president's term for six months.

Following a Judicial Misc case filed by four individuals (including two members of MPP) against MPP interim president Ch Shamjai, and two others as OP defendants and ECI as proforma defendant, the court, in an order issued on March 31, had stayed the MPP election order and denied extension of the office term of MPP interim president.

The development of vacating the ad-interim injunction order dated March 31 comes after the court learnt that the petitioner counsel did not disclose that there is a caveat petition filed against the petitioners.

Meanwhile, the court had issued notice to all the defendants for appearance with written objection (if any) of April 14 which is fixed as the date of the next hearing of the case.

In another development, it is reported that the bank account of MPP, opened at the Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank, had been frozen following a complaint lodged by the four petitioners to the manager of the bank.

Speaking to the media in this regard at the MPP office, its interim president Ch Shamjai said it is unfortunate that the bank manager has acted as per a complaint by two members of MPP and another two unrelated persons with the party.

Such an “unaccountable” act by a bank manager without consulting or informing the office bearers of MPP is intolerable, he said, adding that MPP was ready to act legally in this regard.

While the party is giving its best thrust to contest the upcoming elections, it is unfortunate that many are trying to bifurcate the party in one way or another, he said, calling on all the concern for unification to strengthen the party.
