The Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) on Thursday demanded immediate demarcation of the international border by the Survey of India in connection with the resumption of the Indo-Myanmar border fencing work by the Border Road Task Force (BRTF).
Recently, a team of the United Committee Manipur (UCM), while visiting the Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district, had witnessed that the BRTF had resumed the border fencing works, amidst the border dispute issue.

It is reported that the Indo-Myanmar fencing work taken by the BRTF was halted in 2018 after a team of the Survey of India conducted a survey along the international border on June 25, 2018, however the team left without giving any report on the survey, ICHAM said.
The Survey of India team assured of conducting a re-survey after a month but it never happened, said president of ICHAM Yuimi Horam while speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club in Imphal West.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the fencing works taken up by the BRTF amidst border dispute, he said it is high time for the CSOs of Manipur to join hands and take up necessary steps to settle the border dispute to safeguard the territory boundary of Manipur.
