Moreh police have formally arrested the two main suspects behind the assassination of SDPO, Moreh Ch Anand Singh on Monday.
An application was filed by O Sukumar Singh, MPS, additional superintendent of Police (L&O), Tengnoupal district, leader, SIT of the case, with FIR No.1645(10)2023 Moreh PS praying for allowing to formally arrest the accused persons before the Special Judge (NIA), Imphal West while they are producing before the court in c/w FIR No. 24(01)2024 Moreh PS, u/S 16 UA(P) Act, 25(1-C) Arms Act and Sec 307/181/34 IPC and Sec. 3 Explosive Substance Act.
Before the court, it is submitted that the ground for formal arrest that the two persons namely, Phillip Khaikholal Khongsai, son of (L) Marcus Khongsai of New Moreh Ward No. 8 and Hemkholal Mate, son of (L) Onkholun Mate of K Moulsang village, were involved in shooting towards a team of District Police, Tengnoupal along with Special Commando and 5 IRB at the playground of Eastern Shine School located at Moreh Turel Wangma, Ward No. 7, Tengnoupal district in which one, Chingtham Anandakumar Singh, SDPO, Moreh was hit by a bullet on his stomach and later he succumbed to his injuries.
The court, after hearing the submission, allowed the formal arrest for enabling the investigation officer to investigate the case properly.
