Remand extended for SDPO assassination suspects

The two main suspects in the killing of Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar, namely Philip Khaikholal Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate were remanded in further police custody for another six days.

The two main suspects in the killing of Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar, namely Philip Khaikholal Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate were remanded in further police custody for another six days until January 29 on Wednesday.

Moreh Police produced the arrested suspects before the court of District and Session Judge, Imphal West cum Special Judge NIA Imphal West RK Memcha via video conferencing. The accused persons are currently kept under the supervision of Moreh Police Station at 5th Assam Rifles KLP camp in border town Moreh.

During the hearing, it was submitted that the involvement of both the accused persons in a number of cases that had taken place in and around Moreh is highly suspected.

It was submitted that the evidence against them in connection to the particular case is likely to be unearthed in due course; therefore, it is utmost important to remanded them into further police custody. The court after hearing submission remanded them into further police custody for further interrogation.
