A 19-year-old woman hanged herself to death on Tuesday at around 11:30 am, sources said.
The sources said she was found hanging at a rented house in Sangaithel Bazar under the jurisdiction of Patsoi Police station, Imphal West district.
The police said the deceased was identified as one Moirangthem Ningol Nongmaithem ongbi Abema alias Thoibi (19), wife of N Sanathoi of Jiribam Begra Durgapur.
Maternal home of the deceased is from Sangaithel Mayai Leikai. The couple has been living in the rented house in Sangaithel Bazar with their two-year-old son, the sources said.
Maternal relatives of the deceased expressed strong suspicion that Thoibi might have committed suicide due to domestic violence by her husband, the sources added.
Patsoi police station has registered a case and the body has been handed over to the family members in Jiribam after carrying out post mortem in RIMS mortuary, the police added.
