Manipur Health Minister calls for public-private coordination to improve healthcare system

Minister Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh reiterated that health staff should work with a commitment for the welfare of the public.

In a bid to improve the healthcare system in Manipur, state Health and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has called for coordination between public and private health sector and stressed on improving the primary healthcare system.

"Without improving the primary healthcare system, tertiary healthcare will be hardly improved," the minister said while speaking as chief guest at the foundation day celebration of Jivan Hospital, Kakching, on Wednesday.

Maintaining that the government is relentlessly working to improve the healthcare system in the state, the minister said many welfare health schemes have been launched at the central and state level, including schemes like PMJAY, CMHT andChief Minister’s Health for All.

The minister then reiterated that health staff should work with a commitment for the welfare of the public. The importance of public healthcare is understood by all, he said, adding that nursing care to the patients is highly necessary.

Dr Ranjan said there has been a turning point in the healthcare system in the past few years. Information Technology, (IT) enabled service to the  private and public sectors have become a new trend, he said.

Lauding the role played by the health staffs during the Covid pandemic, he said the government is now prepared for any pandemic.

Stressing the support of private hospitals for bringing a better healthcare system in the state, he said the endeavour of the private hospitals also needs to be encouraged.

Director, Health Services Manipur, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Dr Nepram Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS, also shared the dais as president and guest of honour respectively. Managing Director, Jivan Hospital Shri Yengkhom Ashokumar Singh was also present at the occasion.

Certificates and mementos were also distributed to outstanding performers of the hospital as a part of the celebration.
