2,976 COVID-19 active cases in Assam, 750 in Mizoram

Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya continued to report the highest number of COVID1-19 cases in Northeast India.

As the pandemic continued to persist, Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya in Northeast India continued to report the highest number of COVID-19 active caseload of 2,976, 750 and 464 respectively, as per the latest offiical updates.

According to the Union Health Ministry bulletin, 174 new COVID-19 positive cases pushed the total confirmed caseload in Assam to 7,43,222, while Mizoram reported 153 new positive cases, taking the total confirmed caseload to 2,35,682. Meghalaya's COVID-19 caseload rose to 96,240 with 46 new cases as of Thursday.

The death toll in Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya stood at 8,028, 717 and 1,613 respectively with no new deaths reported in all the three states in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Manipur reported 26 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state's confirmed caseload to 1,39,563, while ist death toll remained 2,143 with no report of deaths on Wednesday. Consequently, the cumulative number of positive cases reached 1,39,563, including 1,37,264 recoveries, so far. The number of active cases in the state stood at 156.
