The Working Committee Khwairamband Ima Keithel on Monday called upon all Meitei women in Manipur to conjure up all their strength and initiate the movement for a third ‘Nupi Lal’ to protect the state’s territorial integrity and unity from unwanted invaders.

Speaking to the media at Ima Keithel No I, Imphal women vendors of Khwairamband Ima Keithel alleged that the Central Forces were working hand in glove with the Kuki militants to wipe out the Meitei community.

“Recent reports of Central forces aiding the militants have confirmed that they are not here to protect the Meiteis but annihilate them; cases of RAF torching congested residential areas have raised the eyebrow on whether they have been at the helm of arsons occurring in various sensitive areas,” a woman vendor said.

She questioned why the Indian Army, which prides itself on being one of the biggest in the world, has not been able to tackle and drive out the Kuki militants till now.

This unwillingness to act, along with reports of their involvement in inflaming the whole tension, has affirmed that they are against the Meitei community, she added.

She further questioned how the militants were able to procure sophisticated firearms at this crucial juncture.

“Were the arms transported from Myanmar, or is the Indian Army supplying them to keep the Meiteis at bay?” she continued.

She further mentioned that there are groups working to create rifts between the Meiteis and other communities, and as such, she appealed to the communities not to fall prey to such malicious intentions.

She also maintained that the state government's tag of the militants as ‘terrorists’ was too late and questioned the cause of their delay.

“Were they waiting to save their faces and political power or just observing silently and waiting for a higher order?” she added.
As such, she sought the support of the international community in fighting off the onslaught of the central forces and armed Kuki militants.
