Three persons working for Reliance Jio Towers remain untraced after being abducted by miscreants at Bungte Chiru, Thangbuh village under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district, Manipur around 3.50 pm on February 3, sources said.
The three missing workers are Mrinal Chetia c/o Dipak Chetia, Namrupia Gaon, Jorhat Assam; Prokash Gogoi c/o Golap Gogoi, 138, NSBK Road, Namrupia Gaon, Jorhat Assam and Sanjiv Samachi, 138 NSBK Road Namrupia Gaon Jorhat Assam. They were working under Sapphire Solutions Company.
In connection with the incident, Sapphire Solutions project head Sumit Rai lodged a report to OC New Keithelmanbi Police Station on Saturday. The report mentioned a demand for heavy ransom, the sources said.
Kangpokpi District Police are currently undertaking a search operation in the Khoupum area, as per the sources.
Meanwhile, the truck (Tata-MN01-8796) carrying 360 Taj cement bags that went missing within Irang Bridge and Noney Bazar area in Tamenglong district was found at a spot located 15 km away from Awang Khul, Tamenglong district on Monday.
The truck has been retrieved by Noney Police along with an escort team of 44-AR from the spot. However, its driver Laimayum Romeo Sharma remains untraceable.
