SIMS Rape Case: It was pre-planned, says JAC; demands arrest of culprits

A public meeting in connection with rape and sexual harassment by Saina Institute of Medical Science (SIMS) founder was conducted on Monday at Kakwa Lamdaibung community hall, Imphal West.

The Joint Action Committee Against Rape and Sexual Harassment, SIMS on Monday stated that there was a clear-cut pre-plan with the three teachers of the institute for force elopement and sexual harassment and demanded the arrest of the culprits involved in the incident.

A public meeting in connection with rape and sexual harassment by Saina Institute of Medical Science (SIMS) founder was conducted on Monday at Kakwa Lamdaibung community hall, Imphal West wherein the meeting resolved for democratic protest for justice, pressure the authorities to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.

The meeting also stated that SIMS should not deny that the victim is not related to the institute. If the institute says so, they must produce a white paper before the public, the JAC demanded.

The public meeting was organised by Joint Action Committee Against Rape and Sexual Harassment, SIMS for Civil Society Organisation, Meira Paibi and Student’s organisations to initiate fact findings of the case. They also resolved to join hands until justice is served.

SIMS should not conspire a plot for terming the case as personnel, the JAC said, adding that the victim is a student of the institute and the main accused is founder cum MD of the institute. There was a clear-cut pre-plan with the three teachers of the institute for force elopement and sexual harassment, the JAC reasserted.

The JAC also lamented that no one from the institute visited the victim’s family nor enquired about the victim considering that the victim is a student of the institute.
