While charging that fascism, unemployment, price hike and cultivation of hatred has been on the rise since the advent of the BJP government at the Centre, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president (administration) Hareshwar Goswami on Monday said it's time to raise an united voice against anti-people policies and programmes of the BJP government.

During a press conference at Congress Bhawan, BT Road, Imphal West, Hareshwar Goswami said the Congress Party had on Sunday (September 4) launched a campaign against price rise in New Delhi under the slogan “Mahengai Par Halla Bol-Chalo Dilli”.

This will be followed by Bharat Jodo Yatra slated to begin from September 7, he informed, adding that the campaigns were launched with an objective to spread awareness about the utter failure system of the Modi-led government.

The campaign, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, will be participated by Congress legislatures, executive members of the Congress from various places of the country.

From Manipur, as many as 100 representatives, including CLP leader Okram Ibobi, member of Congress Working Committee, Gaikhangam, president of MPCC, Keisham Meghachandra will attend the Bharat Jodo Yatra. They also participated in Mahengai Par Halla Bol-Chalo Dilli, he informed.

He said that Bharat Joro Yatra will transverse from Kanyakumari to Srinagar covering a total distance of 3570 km in 150 days. The Yatra will travel to 12 states and 2 union territories.

Terming the BJP government an inefficient government, he said that this eight years of BJP reign has been marked by false promises, wild schemes, polarization and cultivation of hatred, undermining of democracy, curving of freedom of speech, destruction of secularism etc.

Some of the false promises made by the BJP government were two crore jobs every year, 100 smart cities, double farmers’ income, minimum support price (MSP), cheap fuel, women safety, etc. he added.

He continued that the demonization policy didn’t serve any purpose of digging out black money but rather gave a huge set back to the general population. Out of Rs. 15.44 lakh crore, only Rs 16 crore thousand was returned which is just equivalent to 1 per cent of total money. As such demonetisation has inflicted widespread havoc to people, the Congress leader said.

Hareshwar Goswami also said that thousands of farmers have died, committed suicide and suffered but still the implementation of MSP remains a distant dream. Public sector Units (PSUs) are getting destroyed continuously while the union cabinet has already cleared disinvestment of 26 PSUs. However, some have already been privatized paving the way for corporate tycoons to share booty with BJP, he added.

He said that many government schemes were not implemented properly despite the fact that it was launched with an aim to support poor people. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is one such example. Due to the price rise in LPG, the Yojana is suspected to be a scheme to loot money from poor people, he stated.

The MPCC leader also stated that most of the mainstream media houses in the country are under control of two corporate tycoons who would work for the BJP. Even the voice of opposition was not allowed to be raised properly in Parliament, he said while stating that they are not left with any option to save India from the clutches of fascist regime except to raise campaign by interacting with people directly.
