The seven-hour total shutdown imposed by the Tangkhul Nagalong (TNL) in Ukhrul town condemning the April 3 IED blast disrupted normal life in Ukhrul town on Thursday.

Ukhrul Bazar wore a deserted look during the shutdown period which came into effect from 5am to 12 noon. To prevent any unwanted incident the district police were on strict vigil in and around the bazar area.

Tangkhul Nagalong in a statement also condemned the deployment of police commandos in the bazar area instead of installing CCTV cameras.

The statement also appealed to the people not to come out in public places as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the National Socialist Council Kanglei (NA SOCK) claimed responsibility for the bomb blast that occurred between Phungreitang and Viewland around 6.26 pm.

Publicity Secretary of the outfit S. Shirat in a press release stated that the attack was carried out following the failure of the particular shop to register with the organisation.
