In continuation of preventive measures taken up for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Manipur, district commando Imphal West conducted cordon and search operation at two different places of Imphal city on Tuesday.
The district commando conducted house to house search operation and verification at the eastern side of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport from 6 am to 8 am.
During the police activity around 35 houses, including school, workshop, poultry farm and brickfield were searched while around 90 individuals were verified. However, no individuals were picked up for further verification.
Meanwhile, the same district commando team also conducted search operations at hotels located at Thangal Bazaar from 7.30 am to 8.40 am. During the search operation around 8 hotels were searched but no individuals were picked up.
The same commando team also conducted cordon and search operations in the surrounding areas of Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, Imphal from 3.20 pm to 5 pm.
During the operation around 100 houses including rented houses and 10 hotels were searched in which 170 individuals were verified but no one was detained for further verification.
The team also conducted similar operations at Ibohal cycle area of Paona Bazaar side covering Kakhulong, Masjid Road area, river bank of Nambul river and Paona Bazaar stretch from 3.30 pm to 4 pm.
In the operation about 125 individuals were verified however no individuals were detained for further verification.
