RIMS will witness a complete change with latest infrastructures and technologies, and every improvement and upgradation is for the betterment of the people of Manipur, Prof A Santa, director of the institute said on Saturday.
Dr Santa was addressing the inauguration programme of the Burn Unit and Ward of the department of Plastic Surgery, RIMS in its campus in Lamphelpat, Imphal West.
It was constructed under the National Programme for Prevention and Management of Burn Injuries. The newly inaugurated unit includes an operation theatre, ICU with oxygen pipeline connection, toilet, doctor room, wards and other facilities.
Santa said successful implementation of such a super specialist ward for burns in RIMS is a great boon for all, especially the people of Manipur.
As most of the buildings are outdated, the institute is planning to construct various new buildings of different wards, he said, while informing that the institute is already in the process to establish new buildings for the critical care centre and casualty block apart from the doctor's hostels.
Regarding the burn unit which was inaugurated on Saturday, he informed that a new floor will be added soon as it is the face of the RIMS.
The function was also attended by medical superintendent of RIMS Dr N Sanjib and department of Plastic Surgery RIMS head Dr Ak Ibohal among others.
