Relief Committee JNIMS appeal for donation

Ninety per cent of injured suffered bullet wounds in the violence that ravaged several parts of Manipur, according to relief committee chairman.

The Relief Committee JNIMS has appealed to the public to donate financial assistance for the treatment of those who have been injured during the ongoing conflict. Ninety per cent of the total injured persons i.e., 121 persons sustained bullet wounds, it says.

Since the eruption of the conflict on May 3, the committee has been providing necessary assistance to as many as 121 injured people, committee chairman Bon Khurai said while briefing the media at JNIMS, Porompat, Imphal East district.

Initially, the injuries were mostly from AK bullets and other license guns. But on May 28, the committee received an injured person suspected to be shot by a Sniper rifle, he said.

As the person injured by sniper rifles need more blood, he appealed to the general public to donate blood to RIMS and JINMS as much as possible.

Bon further said 21 persons have donated to the committee, and the committee has a total sum of Rs 6,900 though some people among the 21 have also donated medicine items, food and clothings. Till date, the committee has spent a total sum of Rs 3,56,571 by borrowing from pharmacies and others, he said.

He appealed to all for voluntary financial donation to the committee so that the committee could serve the injured people in connection with the clash.

He further said for those injured, the committee members are providing assistance to make CMHT card so that they can get some benefits during their treatment.
