The proposed two-day closure of OPD and routine OT of Obs and Gynae department of JNIMS which was to begin on Thursday has been called off after negotiation with JNIMS authorities and doctors and students of the hospital.

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS), Porompat, director Dr L Deben Singh told the media on Thursday at his office chamber in JNIMS that last Friday a woman died in the hospital premises after a successful caesarean section for child birth.

After discussion between hospital authority and patient party along with some CSOs, the issue was solved, he added.

Deben said the medical staff and authority of the hospital are trying their best to provide the best service to any patient; however, incidents occurred sometimes which are not in the hand of the medical staff.

Medical staff are harassed when such incidents happen. So, the doctors and students of JNIMS decided to launch a two-day closure of OPD and routine OT of Obs and Gynae department on March 7 and 8. However, after a meeting of the authority concerned with doctors along with students the scheduled strike was called off after considering the present crisis going on in the state, he added.
