A banner prominently displayed at the protest site conveyed the message: “Sit-in protest against the harassment of the medical fraternity.”

Placards bearing messages such as “Stop false allegations”, “Stop harassment, save the workplace environment”, “Stop extortion”, and “Stop violence against the medical fraternity” adorned the protest area.

Speaking on the side-lines of the demonstration, senior doctor Matouleibi clarified that the protest was not directed against any specific community or individual.

Rather, it aims to address a concerning situation where doctors and staff are unfairly held accountable in cases of mishaps or patient deaths, the doctor said.

Dr Matouleibi urged the public in Manipur to stand in solidarity with the medical professionals, enabling them to carry out their duties effectively and fearlessly in the future. It will continue on Thursday at the same place.
