Cordon and search operations were carried out on Thursday at Khangabok New Bazar area by police teams from 4.30 am to 6 am in connection with the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
It was carried out by teams of Commando Thoubal and Thoubal police along with women police under the supervision of SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam led by additional SP ops Wangkhomba okramcha.
Around 60 houses were searched during which 92 males and 75 females (total-167) were verified. There were no individual pick-ups.
Meanwhile, as part of security measures taken up in connection with the upcoming Independence Day celebration, a team of Commando Unit Thoubal led by ASP (Ops) Thoubal Okramcha Wangkhomba, assisted by OC, Commando Thoubal inspector N Sadananda Singh under the supervision of SP, Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam conducted house-to-house search operation at Athokpam Mamang and Awang Leikai.
The operation started from 4.30 pm and continued till 6.10 pm. Around 30 houses were checked and around 100 persons (male and female) were verified but no one was picked up.
