Imphal West district commando on Thursday conducted cordon and search operation at several areas in continuation of the security and preventive measures being undertaken ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
A team of district commandos conducted house-to-house search operations in the Moirangkhom area including Chingakham Leirak, Chingakham Leikai and Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leirak from 6.30 am to 8.15 am.
Around 150 individuals, including one bailed out individual, were verified but no one was picked up during the operation.

The same team also conducted another search operation at Thangal Bazar, including Delhi Motors stretch covering Majorkhul, Kalibari and Gurudwara from 5 pm to 5.40 pm.
The police team verified around 140 individuals. As many as four persons who failed to produce any identification certificate were picked up and handed over to city police for further verification.
