In continuation of the rescue operation carried out at several flash flood affected areas of Imphal, a combined team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with locals have rescued over thousands of stranded people from different areas so far.
The teams of 12 battalion NDRF under the supervision of its deputy commandant Ahanthem Boboi Singh along with locals conducted rescue operation at different areas including Maibakhul, Achanbigei, Khabam, Laipham Khunou, Kairang, Tangkhul Avenue, Nagaram, Raj Medicity, Dewlaland and Namdunlong.
The NDRF team has rescued more than 1,000 people till date, including women, children, infants, the sick etc. The NDRF team with local administration and clubs are also taking part in the distribution of relief materials.
Besides, relief materials and essential items were distributed to the people affected by the flood at Laipham Khunou on Saturday. The relief materials and essential items were given to Laipham Khunou Flood Committee from the state government.
Ng Rakeshwor, a member of the committee, appreciated the state government for providing relief materials and essential items to the affected people of Laiphal Khunou where chief minister N Biren Singh is also their local MLA.
He also appreciated NDRF and others for providing necessary assistance while rescuing the stranded people and providing relief materials for the affected people of the area.
