Ningthoujam Popilal Singh, the youngest candidate in fray for the ensuing Manipur Assembly Election 2020 has not mentioned any assets in his affidavit.
Twenty-six-year-old Popilal filed his election nomination for the state general election as an NCP candidate from Sekmai Assembly constituency (AC) at the office of RO 16-Sekmai AC on Monday. His nomination was declared as validated during scrutiny conducted on Tuesday.
As per the affidavit, Popilal from Phayeng Mayai Leikai, Imphal West is a cultivator by profession,
He, however, does not have any source of income, as mentioned in the affidavit. Moreover, he did not have any movable or immovable asests and has no cash in hand, the affidivit mentioned.
He also has a pending defamation case which he allegedly committed the crime in 2018.
Popilal completed his graduation from Manipur University in 2016. He was a contender for INC ticket for Sekmai AC. However, the ticket was given to Ningthoujam Biren Singh. Being denied INC ticket, Popilal resigned from the Congress party and joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
