With a total asset amounting to Rs 23,59,66,012.7, independent candidate from Keishamthong Assembly Constituency Sapam Nishikant is the richest candidate in the fray for the first phase of the 12th Manipur Assembly Election. His spouse S Anandita has assets totalling to Rs 5,70,39,368.44.

Nishikant, who is also the owner of the Sangai Express, filed his election nomination on Tuesday at the office of RO 12-Keishamthong AC in Imphal West.      

As per his affidavit, Nishikant owns movable assets worth Rs 17,65,94,525.7 including Rs 3,00,000 as cash in hand, over 47 lakh in eight different accounts, over Rs 6 crore several investments in shares, mutual funds among others. He also owns 11 pre-owned vehicles, which includes four heavy vehicles, a Maruti van worth Rs 3,63,200, one Jeep Compass worth Rs 27,04,740, one Mercedes Benz worth Rs 71,88,403, a Verna car worth Rs 11,86,630 and license pistol. His wife S Anandita has total assets worth Rs 5,70,39,368.44. His wife has movable assets worth Rs 5,70,39,368.44 including Rs 4,00,000 cash is hand.

Nishikant has immovable assets worth Rs 5,93,71,487 and has liabilities as government dues of Rs 8,49,631 and Rs 2,30,61,948.98 as loans from the bank.

According to the affidavit, Nishikant completed B.Com (Hons) in 1987. He and his wife's profession is business and their source of income is the income from the business.

While he was one of the four contenders of BJP ticket of Keishamthong AC, the ticket bagged by Elangbam Johnson.
