Manipur Shiv Sena declares May 3 as Black Day

Around 50,000 people displaced by the Manipur crisis have been under rehabilitation for exactly a year, while the crisis continues with no end in sight, Shiv Sena stated.

Shiv Sena Manipur Pradesh, pointing out the detrimental effect of the year-long conflict on the people of the State, on Friday questioned the Centre and state government on how long the war will continue.

A release jointly issued by Shiv Sena Manipur Pradesh president M Tombi Singh and general secretary H Premkumar declared May 3 as ‘Black Day’, stating that it will be remembered as a black day in the history of Manipur, in commemoration of the lives lost during the conflict.

It demanded to provide the promised compensations and further highlighted the atrocities carried out by Kuki militants on National Highways, attacks on forces etc.

It also expressed concern over the increase of 996 new villages in the border and periphery areas of the State. It appealed to all to extend their solidarity in fighting against the same.

MPP pays tribute

Manipur People’s Party (MPP) paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the attacks carried out by Kuki Narco terrorists in the ongoing violence which erupted in the state on May 3, 2023.

MPP president S Brojen Singh led the party members in paying floral tributes to the departed souls at an event held at the party’s conference hall, stated a release.

S Brojen urged the state and central government to conclude the ongoing violence at the earliest and to let the displaced person return back to their respective homes, it said.
