A team of legislators led by Sagolbond MLA Rk Imo Singh along with Kunjakeshore Keba, Abdul Nasir, Usham Deben, Arun Thangjam and Moirang MLA Shanti visited the relief camp at Moirang College on Monday.
A release stated that more than 7000 displaced people from Churachandpur are staying in and around the relief camp.
They have requested to be settled temporarily at Sericulture Office Kwakta and other nearby areas of Moirang College, it continued.
It maintained that the team visited and inspected the temporary settlements and urged the government to initiate the work to provide a private temporary settlement area for the displaced families.
During the visit, the team handed over Rs 2 lakh was handed over to the relief camps at Moirang and also visited a government office at Leimaram which can also be used as a temporary place for families to stay till they resettle in their original places, it added.
