Manipur: Imposter handed over to police

The man identified as Md Kabir Khan, 34, of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Thoubal district submitted a surety before the court of chief judicial magistrate, Imphal East to bail out an accused who was arrested on charge of theft in connection with an FIR.

A man was handed over to the Imphal police station by the staff of chief judicial magistrate, Imphal West on Wednesday for allegedly making a fake surety paper by disguising as a junior system assistant of MSPCL.

It is reported that the man identified as Md Kabir Khan, 34, of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Thoubal district submitted a surety before the court of chief judicial magistrate, Imphal East to bail out an accused who was arrested on charge of theft in connection with an FIR no. 100(4) 2022 IPS.

As the staff found the surety documents to be suspicious, the man was handed over to the Imphal police station, requesting the officer-in-charge to investigate the identity of the surety.

As per the complaint lodged to the Imphal police station by the bench clerk of the court, it stated that the identity of the surety seems to be of not genuine upon preliminary enquiry to the department concerned. It requested the OC to take up necessary action against the culprit so that such cases may not be repeated in the future.
