Manipur government plans development of border area in Kamjong district

Water Resource and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Awangbow Newmai and Phungyar AC MLA Leishiyo Keishing inspected several villages in Kamjong district on April 12, 2023. Newmai said that the government is planning for border area development in the area.

The inspection was carried out at Kasom khullen, Namlee, Wanglee, Kaka Ashang Khullen and Z Chorro villages following the Chief Minister N Biren Singh's instruction for the development of the area and to check the influx of immigrants.

The minister and the MLA urged all concerned to extend cooperation to the state government. Foreign nationals will be provided all humanitarian assistance temporarily until normalcy returns in their home country, Awangbow said.

Awangbow Newmai also states that Myanmar nationals who fled their country against the backdrop of the unrest in their country should be identified and kept in a shelter home. He also said stringent legal action will also be initiated against anyone found providing accommodation without the permission of the government.

Keishing said that Newmai was the first Cabinet minister to visit the area. He urged the people of the village to extend full cooperation to the state government. The team also inspected the sites for construction of dams and bridges.

The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong Rangnamei Rang Peter and other officials of the district, WRD officials and PWD bridge division officials.
