Myanmar nationals detained at Imphal Airport

Seven suspected Myanmar nationals in possession of Aadhaar cards but no valid travel documents were detained at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal on Wednesday.

A combined team of Tulihal Airport police station and Foreigner Check Post (FCP), Airport on Tuesday detained seven suspected Myanmar nationals at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal for possession of Aadhaar cards but no valid travel documents.

According to sources, the combined team of Tulihal Airport police station and Foreigner Check Post (FCP), Airport detained seven persons, including two juveniles, suspected to be Myanmar nationals who arrived at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport from Pune. None of them had a valid travel document but they had Indian Aadhaar cards and PAN cards, the sources mentioned.

The detainees were identified as Suankhan Khai, 28, son of Lian Khan Khyal from Tuimui Chin District, Myanmar, Kam Sia Khai, 19, son of Lia Za Vai from Kale Sagaing Region, Myanmar, Cing Num Eng, 26, daughter of Thaum khan Lam from Lum Maul Village, Chin District, Myanmar, Thanglamchin, 21, son of Lang Khango of Tuimui, Chin District, Myanmar and Niang Lun Kin, 26, daughter of Pun Khan Thang of Kale Sagaing Region, Myanmar, it informed.

It stated that the five adults have been placed at Foreigners Detention Centre while the two juveniles were placed at Juvenile Observation Homes. A regular case has been registered at Singjamei police station for further legal action, it added.
