Doing his bid to lift the burden faced by students due to the skyrocketing of travel fares, one auto driver Thokchom Abhiram from Khangabok Khullakpam Leikai made an announcement that he will be providing free rides to students on his regular route from Khangabok to Thoubal.

In a press conference at Ema Kids, in Khangabok Khullakpam Leikai, Abhiram said that the increase of public transportation fares owing to the price hike of petrol and diesel, has proven to be a burden to the public especially the students. He said that as a show of support to developing education, he had decided to provide accommodations for the students and their parents free of charge.

Speaking on the occasion, a student expressed that the increase in transportation fares have added to the adversities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Commending Abhiram’s decision, they requested the other transport service providers to follow the steps of Abhiram and exempt the students from fares.
