Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Training for polling personnel begins in Manipur

The training programme mainly focuses on the role of presiding officers for the efficient conduct of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024.

The Training for Polling Personnel in connection with the ensuing General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 for various districts of Manipur began on Friday.  

The District Election Office, Imphal East conducted its first round of training for Polling Personnel at four venues, namely Panchayat Bhawan, DC Office, Multipurpose Hall, Modern College Porompat, Old Hall, Modern College and Training Hall, SIRD (State Institute of Rural Development), Porompat, was attended by over 600 Polling Personnel.

The training programme mainly focuses on the role of presiding officers for the efficient conduct of the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024.

District election officer Khumanthem Diana Devi also engaged with Polling Personnel at the training session held at Panchayat Bhawan on Friday.

The training sessions were conducted in two sessions across four venues by sixteen Master Trainers.
Sujata Thokchom, Pebam Paikhomba Singh, Tumtin Sonmang Koren, Nongthombam Padameshwar, S Somorendro Singh, Hemabati Yumnam, Anthony Rimai, Laishangbam Subalaxmi Devi, Sh Ranjit Singh, Hidangmayum Diana Devi, Ramkho Raikhan, Pinky Lukram, S Roshan Singh, W Ranibai Devi, W Sarat Singh, Md Farijuddin Khan were the Master Trainers who took the initiative in conducting the first round of Training for Polling Personnel.

Election training programmes are also scheduled to take place on March 23, 27 and 28.

The forthcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024 in respect of 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is slated to be held on April 19.

The District Election Office, Senapati also conducted the first round of training for polling personnel along with Sector Officers on Friday at four different locations.

They are DRDA Conference Hall, Old DC Office Complex, Multi-Purpose Hall opposite to Mini Secretariat, Training Hall- 1(W/W), Ground Floor, D- Block and Training Hall- 2(E/W), Ground Floor, D- Block, Senapati.

During the training, Master Trainer S Lunguiba Thangal MCS SDO Senapati, Azingwungshi Nimmi Khamrang MCS ADC/ADM Senapati, P P Ronald MCS PD- DRDA, Ningreingam Leisan MCS ADC/ ADM Mao, Reikimdaar Khaling MCS SDO Paomata, Sheveine MCS AC to DC Senapati, Ngaonii Panii SDC Senapati and A Nganio Mickey Pao Jr DO/PO imparted the trainees on the roles to be played by presiding officers and respective polling officers and  also highlighted the activities to be carried out on the dispersal day and polling day.

EVM Master Trainer Kamei Manganchao, K Dihe, S Luilu Kuanamei and Kayizii also imparted hands-on training on EVM and VVPAT to the polling personnel.

Altogether 570 polling personnel and 10 Sector Officers consisting of both males and females attended the training for smooth conduct of Lok Sabha election.

The first round of training sessions for remaining male and female polling personnel will continue on March 27 and 28.

Meanwhile, the first round of training for presiding officers and polling officers I in connection with the ensuing General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 for Bishnupur district were held at 3 different halls in C.I College, simultaneously.

Rishikanta Loitongbam MCS, ARO, Bishenpur AC, S Indrajit Singh, MCS, ARO Nambol AC and Oinam AC, M Suranjoy Singh, MCS, ARO Moirang AC and Kumbi AC and M Ricky Singh, Jr. BDO, ARO Thanga AC were the overall in charge of the training. Additional District Election Officer Hanjabam Bobby Sharma inspected the training.

Altogether 239 presiding officers and polling officers I participated in the training conducted in the morning session.

The officials were briefed about their roles and responsibilities with respect to the conduct of elections.

The training also seeks to ensure that election officials are prepared to conduct free, fair and transparent elections.

Next batch of first round training for presiding officers and polling officers I is scheduled to be held on 23rd March at two different venues namely Panchayat Resource Centre (PRC), Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur and C.I College, Bishnupur.

The District Election Officer, Bishnupur Lourembam Bikram has informed all concerned officials and staff to attend the training on time without fail.
