The Kuki Students’ Organisation, Churachandpur on Monday said they are appalled to learn of the gross incorrect information disseminated regarding the location of K Songjang village, Henglep Subdivision, Churachandpur district.
Dismayed over the intentional and purported wrongful indication of the village address, the KSO Churachandpur would like to set the record straight for once and all, that, K Songjang village is a hamlet of Kungpinaosen village, which originally falls under Henglep subdivision, Churachandpur, the KSO stated in a release. All the supporting documents regarding the jurisdictional area of the said village, which falls under Churachandpur district, can be obtained from the concerned village chief and the district administration of Churachandpur, it added.
The KSO stated the Government of Manipur, Secretariat (Hills Department) vide Order No.9/1/2005-CHA has accorded approval to the recognition of K Songjang village, Henglep subdivision, Churachandpur district as a full-fledged hill house tax-paying village. The Hill house Tax was paid at SDO Henglep, Churachandpur until the establishment of SDO Kangvai in 2016. However, with a malafide intention to create confusion among the public, the District Magistrate of Kangpokpi imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.P.C) on February 22, 2023, the KSO stated.
The order wrongfully indicated K Songjang village is under Bungte Chiru subdivision within Revenue District of Kangpokpi, which itself is an interference of executive power beyond the jurisdictional area, the KSO stated in the release.
The KSO Churachandpur, therefore, in the strongest term condemned the wrongful indication of village address and appealed to the state government and the concerned authorities to stop creating unnecessary confusion among the people, it stated.
