The Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) extended support to the Kuki Inpi Manipur in connection with the reported eviction drive carried out at K Songjang village and condemned the alleged “inhumane and unlawful” eviction drive at K Songjang village, Henglep subdivision in Churachandpur.
KPA general secretary WL Hangshing said the party holds that the action of the present regime is “ultra vires the set procedures for administrations in the hill areas of Manipur.”
“It does not have the sanction of the Hill Areas Committee and it is without proper procedure be it the notification of the reserve forests or the order of eviction of the tribal forest dwellers,” he asserted.
Condemning the eviction drive at K Songjang, the KPA stated that a remedial measure is warranted for the damage caused.
