Kakching: Waikhong village volunteers receive aid

Peace committee extolled the bravery and courage of village volunteers who are guarding their village against militant attacks.

CCIAN Forum Peace Committee on Friday provided relief materials and monetary assistance to village volunteers of Waikhong village in Kakching district.

Taking part in the visit, general secretary of CCIAN Forum Peace Committee Robinson Takhellambam noted that Waikhong village is one of the Meitei villages bordering Kuki village. He extolled the bravery and courage of the village volunteers who are guarding their village against militant attacks.

He asserted that the committee carried out the activity as an encouragement to the brave village volunteers. ‘The state government is responsible for bringing peace and normalcy, however, we do not want an artificial peace but a fair and honest peace’, Robinson said.

He added that the government needs to work with a commitment to ensure the same. He further appealed to the people to be on guard and remain alert until the prevailing unrest in the state is addressed and to protect the state’s integrity at all costs.
