A team of Imphal West district commandos seized arms, money and cough syrup from the possession of five persons from western side of Singjamei Bridge, Imphal West on Wednesday night.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Pangambam Chingkhomba Meitei, 28, son of late P Kiran Meitei of Yairipok Top Laimanai; Yumkhaibam Moshin alias Md Moshin, 24, son of Md Noor Zaman of Lilong Awang Leikai; Wangmayum Mehtab alias Md Mehtab, 30, son of Md Nawab of Lilong Bazaar; Maibam Sharukh Khan, 28, son of Md Abdul Hakim of Thoubal Moijing and Chingakham Sunder Singh, 31, son of Ch Nongyai Singh of Yairipok Top.
Police reported that they were detained during frisking and checking by the same commando team at the western side of Singjamei Bridge at around 10.30 on Wednesday night while they were coming in a four wheelers (Creta) black in colour without registration number.
On searching their vehicle, one .32 pistol loaded with one live round (from the possession of Chingkhomba); seven mobile phones; two side bags containing Rs 3.5 lakh in cash; two loose vehicle number plate and three bottles of CODEDYL-T 100ml which contains Codeine Phosphate 10mg each were detected and seized.
They were arrested on the spot and handed over to Singjamei Police Station along with the seizures for further necessary action.
A case has been registered at the said police station.
