A fashion event scheduled on Sunday at Hapta Kangjeibung under Porompat police station, Imphal East, in which Bollywood actor, Sunny Leone, was to be the show stopper, has been cancelled after a bomb exploded at the venue early Saturday, sources said.
The deputy commissioner, Imphal East, has cancelled the permit issued to organise the fashion event with immediate effect.
"The permit stands cancelled with immediate effect in view of the law-and-order incident which occurred today morning at Hapta Kangjeibung and as a step for maintenance of law and order in and around the area,” stated an order signed by Pinky Lukram, Branch Officer (Permit) for District Magistrate, Imphal East district.
According to the police a hand grenade exploded at Hapta Kangjeibung ground, where the fashion event was organised by House of Ali to promote handloom khadi and tourism, around 6:05 am Saturday.
Police suspect an UG group behind the blast. The hand grenade exploded near the stage, but no casualties were reported during the incident and the Porompat police have filed a case for further investigation.
