European Manipuri Association draws stakeholders' attention to restore normalcy in Manipur

Manipur Violence: EMA appealed to all the parties involved to exercise restraint and refrain from resorting to violence or any other form of destructive behaviour which will only lead to more suffering and hardship.

The European Manipuri Association (EMA) has called on the Manipur government and all other stakeholders to take immediate steps to restore calm and prevent further escalation of the situation happening in the state.

The EMA, in a release, expressed deep sadness by the current crisis in Manipur and said it is heart-wrenching to see their own communities turning against each other.

It appealed to all the parties involved to exercise restraint and refrain from resorting to violence or any other form of destructive behaviour which will only lead to more suffering and hardship.

"There are grievances and disagreements that need to be addressed but we believe that these can be resolved by understanding each other through empathetic peaceful dialogue and negotiation," it mentioned.

The release also appealed to all the media organisations and social media users to report responsibly and avoid sensationalism that could fuel further tension.

"Let us come together and work towards a peaceful and just resolution," it added.

Expressing solidarity with all the people of Manipur in this dificult time, it said, "We stand with you and offer our support to any efforts aimed at promoting peace, justice and reconciliation for a harmonious future for Manipur."
