Article 355 not promulgated in Manipur: Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh

The Security Advisor to the Manipur government said the numbers of arms snatched from the security forces by the mobs are in term of hundreds and it includes sophisticated weapons.

There is no promulgation of Article 355 in Manipur, but action will be taken up against all those who have taken up the law in their hands including those UG who are under Soo, said security advisor to the Manipur government, Kuldiep Singh on Saturday.

The security advisor was briefing to the media on Saturday evening at CM secretariat in Imphal in connection with the measures taken up by the government to bring back normalcy in the state.

Kuldiep informed that as many as 54 companies of the CAPF had been deployed to ensure public safety in the state and of which 15 companies deployed in the periphery areas, including the foothills and tracks, besides keeping a regular watch with drones and helicopters.

The security forces and administration had also reached out to the stakeholders and public leaders for their cooperation and is taking up all the possible steps to remove fear from the minds of the public, he added.

Regarding the report of arms and ammunition snatched by the mobs, he said that the numbers of arms snatched are in term of hundreds and it includes sophisticated weapons.

He also informed that the government will facilitate all stranded people in a time-bound manner to ensure their safety.

Calling on the public to stay alert from rumours, he said that the state government with the direct support of the central government is giving its best to ensure that normalcy is restored within a short period.
