Cleanliness drive conducted along Nambul river

The cleanliness drive along the stretch of Nambul river at Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai, Imphal West was conducted as a part of celebrating BJP’s 42nd foundation day.

As a part of 42nd foundation day celebration of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Samajik Nyay Pakhwada, a cleanliness drive led by MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand along the stretch of Nambul river at Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai, Imphal West was conducted on Saturday.

On the sidelines of the occasion, MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand said that the state government has been taking various initiatives as a part of celebrating BJP’s 42nd foundation day which is to be celebrated from April 7 to 20. Cleanliness drives are also being conducted in and around the Imphal city area as a part of the celebration, he said.

It is necessary to clean the garbage being piled up at the river bank as with the coming of monsoon season there is a possibility that they could be carried down towards Loktak leading to its pollution.

Khemchand said he will monitor the localities in the surroundings of Imphal Municipal Corporation area in order to collect the garbage.

The MAHUD minister also interacted with the local representatives of Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai and urged them to cooperate with the municipality while cleaning the garbage for a clean Imphal city and its surroundings.

Caretaker of Imphal Municipal Corporation L Lokeshwor; state vice president, BJP Ch Chidananda and president BJP Imphal West Phoni Meitei attended the drive.
