A financial aid of Rs 11,000 along with essential items were donated to the family of seven-year-old Ashem Malemnganba, who has been fighting cancer, by a civil group in Manipur on Wednesday.
"As part of the group’s continuous drive of extending helping hand to the backward and downtrodden section of the society, a financial aid of Rs 11,000 was provided to the family of Ashem Malemnganba who has been fighting cancer," the Like Minded Group (LMG), Manipur said in a release
The financial aid along with other essential food items were handed over to the parents of Ashem Malemnganba, Ashem Inaobi and Ashem (O) Abe, it added.
The financial aid of Rs 11,000 was arranged from the general fund of LMG while the essential food items worth Rs 5,000 was provided by LMG member Jollykumar Thongam, it mentioned.
Father of Ashem Malemnganba, Ashem Inao is a differently abled person and Ashem (O) Abe is a daily wage worker, LMG publicity secretary Rakesh Naorem said.
With the hope of providing their son with necessary treatment they had even pawned their land and house for Rs 3 lakh, he added. He urged the people of the state to provide any form of assistance to Ashem Malemnganba and his family.
Ashem Inaobi also extended appreciation to LMG, Manipur for the considerate gesture, and appealed to the people of the state for help in providing medical treatment for their son Ashem Malemnganba.
The donation led by LMG, Manipur secretary Sorokhaibam Ojit was accompanied by publicity secretary Rakesh Naorem, along with other members including Jollykumar Thongam, Maibam Eteen, Konsam Sitaljit, Inaoba Nongmaithem, IC Ashem, Naorem Romila and Oinam Kangjamba.
