United Rural Development Society, Bon Tarapur, Assam on Sunday strongly condemned the so-called caution to Meiteis in Mizoram by the state’s CSOs.
The society called upon all Meiteis residing in Mizoram to stay on high alert and be cautious to safeguard themselves from untoward incidents.
Speaking to media at the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, advisor of the development society Haorongbam Rajmani highlighted that Bon Tarapur had opened up a temporary relief since May 4 to lodge Meiteis fleeing from other states.
“Numerous people have stayed at the relief camp at Bon Tarapur and returned safely to their homes in Manipur; not only that, we have also visited several relief camps and came across numerous disheartening stories,” he said.
He further added that several people fleeing from Mizoram following the notifications of several Mizoram CSOs had also been holding short stays at the relief camps.
He further pointed out that Meiteis should take the ongoing crisis as a lesson, a moment to unite and reassert the true ethos of the Meitei community.
“Every move we make as a community should be double checked or else, we will only put the entire community in grave danger,” he said.
He also called upon all Meiteis outside Manipur to unite and stated that unity is crucial to overcoming the issue.
