Arms, ammunition recovered from Churachandpur, Kangpokpi; two arrested

The Manipur Police reiterated appeal to the public to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.

Security forces recovered seven arms and 111 ammunition from Churachandpur district while one arm was recovered and two persons with arms were arrested in Kangpokpi district during search operations conducted in the two districts, police sources said on Sunday.

According to the Manipur Police Control Room, search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur, Kakching, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Imphal West districts.

During the search operations, the security forces recovered seven arms and 111 ammunition from Churachandpur district and recovered one arm and arrested two persons for possession of arms in Kangpokpi district, the police said.

The police also mentioned that the three arms and 105 ammunition looted from a house guard at Imphal West by unknown miscreants in the wee hours of Sunday were recovered by the State Police after conducting search operations.

A total of 127 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in several districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley.

As many as 1405 persons were detained in connection with violations in different districts of the State, the police added.

The police also appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room, the police said.

They further appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
