African Swine Fever detected in Bishnupur, containment orders issued
Positive cases of the African Swine Fever (ASF) have been confirmed at a piggery farm in Bishnupur district.

A piggery farm in Manipur's Bishnupur district has been declared as Controlled Area for African Swine Fever (ASF) with immediate effect as positive cases of the disease were confirmed at the farm, official sources said.
"In view of the impending threat of the disease, it has become expedite to issue containment measures to prevent spread of the disease in the area . Therefore, I, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under section 6 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Disease in Animals Act, 2009 hereby notify with immediate effect as "Controlled Areas" for African Swine Fever (ASF) at Rainbow Piggery Farm, Leimaram Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district," additional district magistrate Hanjabam Bobby Sharma said in an order issued on Monday.
The additional district magistrate also ordered that no pig shall be moved from the place where it is kept within the controlled area, while banning sale of pig, pork, feed and related items.
The areas falling within one km radius from the epicentre of the disease has been declared as "infected zone" and areas falling within nine km radius from the infected zone has been declared as a "surveillance zone" for taking up control and containment procedures.
